RESIDENTIAL JUNIOR SUMMER CAMPS 2007

Our junior summer courses offer learners aged 10-17 from all over the world the opportunity to improve their English language skills whilst enjoying a varied and exciting activity programme.

Locations

The junior courses are offered in two of England’s most famous historic cities:

Southampton (ages 12-17):
A cosmopolitan seaside location, offering a range of sporting, cultural, entertainment and shopping facilities, Southampton is also famous for its maritime heritage, and was once home to the Titanic. Southampton is ideally located, with easy access to London and major UK airports, as
well as many popular destinations, such as Oxford, Bournemouth, Stonehenge and the New Forest. Our programme is provided at the modern and well-equipped campus of Southampton Solent University, in the centre of the city.

Accommodation is in single rooms with private bathrooms, in a secure, modern residence, just 10 minutes’ walk from the main campus building.

Nottingham (ages 10-17):
Famous home to the legendary Robin Hood, Nottingham is steeped in English history and folklore. However, this vibrant and friendly city also has a more modern side, offering many entertainment and leisure attractions, as well as one of the largest shopping centres in the UK.
Located in the very heart of England, Nottingham is less than 2 hours from London, and affords easy access to York, Lincoln and Leeds, as well as to traditional English seaside resorts such as Skegness. Our Nottingham programme is provided in a closed campus at the University of Nottingham, which is ideally suited to young learners. Set in extensive parkland, the campus is on the edge of the city, offering easy access to it’s numerous attractions.

Accommodation is in single and twin rooms in the same building as the cafeteria and classrooms.

The Programme
The programme includes 20 lessons per week in international classes of up to 15 students. Each lesson lasts for 50 minutes. There are six levels of study available, from beginner to advanced, and all students are carefully tested on the first day, to ensure they are placed in the right class for their level. Students also receive a welcome pack including detailed information about the course, and a free student bag. At the end of the course all students also receive a certificate as a record of their English language studies.

Our Teachers
As a British Council accredited programme, all our teachers are well qualified and experienced, and are also extensively briefed on the particular needs of young learners. The language is brought to life through a stimulating and functional, learner-centred approach. In addition to formal language training in the four key skills areas, lessons include project work, videos, games and use of an extensive range of modern English language teaching materials and resources
.
Activity Programme
The programme includes one full-day and one half-day excursion per
week. Excursions from Southampton include London, Oxford, Brighton,
Winchester and the Isle of Wight. Nottingham excursions include
London, York, Cambridge and the popular Alton Towers theme park.
There is also a full programme of activities every afternoon and
evening, including a variety of sports (e.g. football, volleyball, basketball)
